with keyboard help enabled and testing commands that use shift (for instance shift+k for virtual buffers) we have issues.

Description

1. Open firefox
2. Press insert+1 to enabale keyboard help
3. Press shift+k, but do this quickly.
A. If done the way I discovered this problem, you will get the description for next link, not previous link.
B. In order to get it for previous link, you must hold down shift for about half a second before pressing k.

  • keywords help added; help, virtual buffers removed
  • version set to trunk
  • component changed from Virtual buffers to Core

Keyboard help isn't different for virtual buffers, so changing component and keywords.

I can't reproduce this issue. Pressing shift+k normally while keyboard help is enabled works fine here. I can't get it to fail under any circumstances. Can anyone else reproduce this?

Does NVDA report "k" or "shift+k" when you press the key? Also, there should be no difference between keyboard help and normal use of the key, so you should be seeing incorrect commands elsewhere as well. You can better test this by enabling speak typed characters and speak command keys.

i also can not reproduce this issue. may be some variations of nvda preferences? may be posting here nvda.ini will help?

If the reporter of this ticket could provide an nvda.ini, or at least comment on whether its still happening in latest snapshots etc I'd be happyer to look at this further. But since only one person has reported this and so far no one else can reproduce the problem I have to mark it as works for me. I'm happy to reopen if we can get some better examples... perhaps an audio recording of the problem occuring, plus an nvda log file with log level set to info.
