The current Freedom Scientific Braille Displays' driver only supports the Focus 40 Blue. The Bluetooth names of the various Focus Series Braille Displays are below, between quotation marks, according to their users' manual. The only difference is the Focus 14 Blue, as the manual is incorrect, but it will be included just in case an earlier firmware version does this:

  • Focus 14 Blue: "F14", "F14 MACAddress", "Focus 14 BT", or "Focus 14 BT (MACAddress)"
  • Focus 40 Blue: "Focus 40 BT" or Focus 40 BT (MACAddress)"
  • Focus 80 Blue: "Focus 80 BT (MACAddress)"
Classic Focus 40 Blue: Unknown (links to manual leads to incorrect file or the file no longer exist)
where (MACAddress) is the eight-digit MAC address of the Braille Display.

Thanks for the report and research.

Do you have any idea what determines whether the MAC address appears? I've not heard of it appearing before now. Also, I assume F14 is what the User Guide specifies or is it the other one?

It's a user-changeable option in the display's menu.
Pressing DOTS 1-4-7-8 CHORD while the Focus status information is displayed activates a menu where you can view the Focus display’s Bluetooth ID, ...
From the Focus 14 User's manual

The F14 is what the manual says. On the display I have (firmware 5.37), the Bluetooth name is "Focus 14 BT). I can change it to have the MAC address suffix, but as I've only one display, there's no point.

The Freedom Scientific Focus 14 Blue and Focus 80 Blue, as well as the Focus 40 Blue in certain configurations that weren't supported previously, are now supported when connected via Bluetooth.

It works. I tried it with both settings - with and without the MAC address. I only have the Focus 14, so only tested with that particular variant using the Toshiba Bluetooth stack.
