graphical items are very important in microsoft word.
these are the features that distinguish microsoft word from any other editor.
and we can add pictures, clip arts, shapes, extra easily.
so we need to know where did we put these items.
most of us use ms word in our work, and the managers asked us for putting some graphical elements.
it is easy to do, but the problem appears when reviewing the document to be sure that everything is in its right place.

Remember that office 2003 is no longer supported, so please try with 2007 or 2010

I think Office 2003 should still be supported for the most part. Office XP is not supported.

For most people Word 2003 is fine, but in this case probably referring to the fact that NVDA does not work with word 2003 for the combination of Arabic and Braille.

Not withstanding the comment about Hebrew etc, I'd like to point out that Microsoft only last week sent out some updates for Word 2003, and even a security patch for the older 2002 version. Many like 2003 for its easy to use standard windows menu system, rather than the ribbons, and I suspect this is why its still in use a lot.

now i use office2010 and the problem still exists.
nvda doesn't announce if there is a graphical item in this place.

Some of these are implemented in 80af921. Certainly inserted pictures will now announce their existance, and alt text will be reported if there is any. Dimensions will not be reported as this info can be viewed from the Picture formatting dialog on the context menu of any picture. Charts and other shapes are not supported yet. So leaving this ticket open however this should now cover all MS Word versions, not just 2003 and 2007.

can ms word recognize shapes now?
I think so as long NVDA can report these shapes in powerpoint, this can be implemented in ms word.

@Adriani90, files are now available

I have tested this in MS Word 2010 with NVDA 2017.3. The picture is being announced with "Grafic space". It is true that there is no announcement of size, but this is the same like in PowerPoint. You can select the grafic and press context menu key. Then you go to grafic Format and there you can see the current size and the Position. You also can adjust it in that Dialog.

Diagrams are recognized as embeded object and are being announced as such. This is because it is actually an Excel sheet embeded into MS Word. So, if you want to see the diagram type, you select the embeded object and press context menu key. There you find the Options for the diagram as well and diagram type and so on.

The only things which are not recognized at all are forms such as Frames, lines, rectangles, circles and so on. I suggest closing this issue in favor of two new issues that I will create now.
