It already is accessible using the old virtual buffers. Note that access to Adobe Reader 8 and 9 was broken, but should now work as of the last few weeks. Please try a recent snapshot. Please reopen this ticket and make the appropriate changes if you have a more specific problem.

the just attached PDF cannot be read by NVDA due to protected content. but JFW reads it just fine. It would be very helpful if such documents can be read with NVDA. The attached file was downloaded from the manufacturers homepage.

There's nothing we can do about this, unfortunately. JAWS can read it because they have a key which allows them to access 40 bit encrypted PDFs. NVDA will never have such a key because it is open source.
